Losing a partner at any age is difficult, but bereavement at a young age is extremely hard. Young widows and widowers can feel isolated and lonely, as well as being overwhelmed by grief while trying to cope with raising a family.

Minus One is a Jewish support group for people between the ages of 35 and 60 who have lost a partner. It is a way of making friends and finding support from people in the same situation who have a unique understanding of the effects of such a bereavement.

The group meets fortnightly on a Wednesday evening (except festivals) from 8.30pm to 10.30pm – alternating between Hendon Reform Synagogue, Danescroft Avenue, NW4 and an outside venue.

Meetings include informal chats, meals at local restaurants and cafés, theatre and cinema trips and occasional guest speakers. Once a month a bereavement counsellor visits and talks to members individually or in a group setting.

If you or someone you know has been bereaved young, then contact us to find out more about Minus One.
