The aim is to provide a vital social and supportive environment, for people who have had a stroke at some time in the past, where information can be shared, and a supportive relationship established with other people who may have experienced similar issues.
A stroke can occur at any age, and with various different effects – the most frequent being difficulty with movement and difficulty with speech. We therefore have regular visits from speech therapists and physiotherapists to ensure that regular movement and exercises take place to enable people to gain maximum independence and quality of life.
The groups provide an excellent forum for social intercourse with a therapeutic input, which is valued enormously by the members as well as providing a period of respite for carers.
