Part of the Otto Schiff Housing Association (OSHA), which works in partnership with and is managed by Jewish Care, Osmond House has expertise in delivering care to people who experienced the horrors of the Nazi regime.
This is particularly important when caring for people with dementia whose memories of their traumatic past may be relived as their condition advances. As in other OSHA homes, care staff at Osmond House do not wear uniforms (although the nurses do).
The home has a welcoming reception were residents often sit and welcome visitors. Each of its three floors has a dining room and communal area, and all residents share a beautiful secure garden with an ornamental water feature.
A member of staff at Osmond House said: “You become very close to your residents, you love them and they love you, because being a key worker you are very close. Sometimes they remember things from the past, and when they are sad you comfort them by being there for them."
