The Maurice Lawson Dementia Support Service provides individual and group support and advice to those caring for a relative with dementia.
Caring for a relative with dementia is a lonely task. We aim to make it easier by:
- ensuring that carers understand the importance of their role
- helping them cope with the stresses and strains of caring for a loved one
- helping them understand the illness of the person they care for
- making them aware of the services that are there to help them, and how they might find some relief from their caring role
- ensuring they receive any benefits or entitlements due to them
- providing opportunities for respite care to give carers a break.
We know that we cannot prevent the illness from taking its course but we can support you through this difficult journey by providing:
- practical advice
- information
- emotional support
- advocacy
All of which are delivered with warmth, compassion and sensitivity.
