Caring for a relative or friend can be a lonely, difficult task. It is emotionally and physically draining.

We have developed our Family Carers’ Service to support those who are caring for a relative or friend, with the aim of offering information, advice and a friendly listening ear for those times when it gets too much.

Our specialist staff can offer the service to you at a time and place that meets your caring, work and home circumstances. The service is open to all family carers in the community, whatever their age and wherever they live.

The services we offer include:

  • Regular mailings that contain the latest information from national carers’ organisations.
  • Telephone contact with an advice worker for support and help, or just for a chat when you need someone to talk to.
  • Confidential one-to-one meetings with support and advice workers.
  • Social activities that give carers a well-earned break and a chance to meet others in a similar situation.

We also offer short-term respite care for people being cared for at home, so that carers can have a break in the knowledge that their loved one is being well looked after in a safe place.

To find out about any of these services, please contact the Family Carers’ Service on 020 8922 2166.

Our main offices are based in north west London, but we also have offices in Redbridge and Hackney and provide the service to the whole community in south east England.
