We want Jewish Care to be a great place to work, so we can enjoy and be proud of what we do and make sure our clients’ needs are very well met.

To help make this happen we have described the values we think are most important and the ways in which we would like all staff to work.

Enabling  - Encourage ownership, growth, learning, innovation and a sense of belonging

What does this mean:
  • Always look for opportunities for you or others to grow, develop and improve
  • Help and support others to succeed
  • Find ways to make a positive difference
  • Encourage people to express their views
Caring - Treat everyone with warmth and kindness – be considerate, compassionate and sensitive

What does this mean:
  • Always consider the impact of our actions on other people
  • Be polite at all times – good morning, good night, please, thank you, etc
  • Be welcoming and warm and help to create a sense of belonging
  • Treat others how we would like to be treated ourselves
  • Support each other – work for the greater good of the team
Integrity - Be open, fair, and honest

What does this mean:
  • Be a good listener – ask people’s opinions and try to understand what they are saying (and not saying)
  • Don’t judge and be honest
  • Encourage feedback – talk face to face to people about any issues in a timely and appropriate manner
  • Mistakes will happen – what is important is how we learn from them
  • Be prepared to apologise and don’t bear any ill will
Excellence - Be professional in all we do and do our absolute best at all times

What does this mean:
  • Do what we say we will do, when we said we would do it and if not explain why
  • Ask if  you are not clear what is expected of you
  • Take pride in what we do and in our achievements –  communicate and celebrate success
  • Stay positive and passionate – then others will too
  • If need to say no be polite and as helpful as you can
Inclusive - Help everyone to feel part of Jewish Care

What does this mean:
  • Treat others with respect regardless of their culture, background or heritage
  • Help to create a sense of community wherever we are in the organisation
  • Everyone counts - work together for the good of  all our clients, all those we work with and the community
  • Communicate in a clear and thoughtful way that is easy to understand
  • Help each other – share what we know for the benefit of others
