  • Our 2 Karten computer centres provide 3,840 hours of computer tuition each year to older people and those with physical disabilities
  • We support and care for over 7,000 people every week
  • Jewish Care will spend over £45m this year providing 70 different services to the community
  • Over 1,500 candles are lit for Shabbat in a year throughout Jewish Care’s residential homes.
  • Each year Jewish Care gives advice and support to over 500 people who are caring for a loved one
  • 80,000 people a year attend our six community centres. These centres cost nearly £5m to run with only £400,000 being contributed by local authorities.
  • We need to raise £15m from the community just to fund our day to day work
  • Over 33,000 calls a year are received by our helpline, Jewish Care Direct, which offers advice, support and access to all our services
  • Over 1,000 Chanukah presents are wrapped and given to the residents in our care homes each year
  • Our social work and family support services cost £1.2 million in total.  We receive a grant of £8k from Hertfordshire and a donation from the Lawson family of £100k per annum. Both amounts are towards the family support part - we do not receive any funding for social work
  • Jewish Care distributes over 5,000 talking books each year to people who are visually impaired or unable to hold a book 
  • Over 100,000 talking books, newspapers and magazines are sent out to people with visual impairments every year.
  • Jewish Care uses over 1,300 boxes of matzos and runs over 50 seders and mock seders each Pesach. 
  • Jewish Care uses nearly 3,000 bottles of kiddush wine each year and will serve over 12,000 doughnuts this Chanukah. 
  • Jewish Care will serve nearly 100,000 portions of chicken soup this year.
  • Jewish Care will serve over two million cups of tea this year in its 70 centres and resources.
  • Our home care team provides 45,000 hours of care a year to people in their own home. This service costs £944k a year to run and only half of this is funded by local government 
  • 75,000 hours of care a year is provided to people in their own homes. The service costs £1.1m to run and only £450,000 is funded by local government.
  • There were over 70,000 attendances by older people at our many day centres last year
  • 73% of our residents in our care homes are funded by their local authority, with an average shortfall of over  £20k per year each.
  • Over 150 people with mental health needs get support and advice and an opportunity to socialise at one of our 3 Centres for Wellbeing each week  
  • Jewish Care’s 3 dementia day centres were visited over 5,000 times last year. These centres cost over £705k and run with a deficit of £245k per annum.
