YJC on Mitzvah Day

Internal Links

Join us for a night of FREE fun at Mitzvah Day Mingle, Sat 14 November!

Date: Sunday 15 November 2009

The Mitzvah Day mission is to reduce hardship and poverty, to help our environment and to bring a little joy all through volunteering rather than by fundraising. It is a way for all of us to make our mark regardless of our affiliation, level of religious conviction, wealth, age, sex or nationality.

Celebrations on Mitzvah Day

How can you help?
We would like a group of 8-10 Young Jewish Care supporters to meet up for one evening and come up with a great way of how to spend the morning of Sunday 15th November 2009 – Mitzvah Day, with the residents of Jewish Care’s Rela Goldhill Lodge.

As a group you might decide to play bingo, host a quiz, or sing some songs – whatever your passion!
Rela Goldhill Lodge
Rela Goldhill Lodge is a vibrant and lively residential home in the heart of Golders Green, specially created for young Jewish adults with physical disabilities and sensory impairments.

The home provides a warm, caring and stimulating environment for adults aged 18-65, underpinned by strong Jewish values and traditions. Rela prides itself on creating a homely, friendly, relaxed and non-threatening environment, where we acknowledge individual needs and preferences. Our aim is for residents to enjoy a full andFlowers on Mitzvah Day active lifestyle with choice, dignity and respect.

Tricia Ward looks back at Mitzvah Day 2008 at Jewish Care:
“This was the biggest collaboration so far for Jewish Care and Mitzvah Day with virtually all our residential homes participating which was fantastic...Activities ranged from adults and children singing or baking with the residents, sorting out the library, creating a memory tree and general chatting and befriending.

The outcome has been a wonderful "feel good factor" for volunteers, residents and staff alike - smiles and laughter abounded and best of all, some of the participants on the day, having had a taster, want to come back to volunteer for Jewish Care on a regular basis!”

We are looking forward to an even bigger and better Mitzvah Day in 2009!
